2010 NKBA Design Competition - Powder Room: Third Place
A captivating space was created through the selection of unique materials and the incorporation of innovative technology that allows many of this powder room's functional elements to be concealed. The limestone wash plane, with appropriate slanting and horizontal ledges on either side, creates the perfect catch for water, which flattens and disappears without benefit of a visible drain. A wall-hung faucet mounted in the mirror adds to the room's illusions, along with the sliding doors with no visible track to conceal the necessary storage for supplies. Recycled glass mosaic tiles, aged copper metallic colored porcelain floor tiles, and satin nickel finishes create the perfect balance of sophistication in color, while the secrets of the space bring an interesting and unique harmony.
