A rectangular carrara marble tile placed in an interesting pattern was chosen for the face of the fireplace with a charcoal gray tile for the hearth to pick up on the dark veins of the marble. A dark charcoal gray paint was chosen for the fireplace wall as well for maximum visual impact.
