A trip to explore midcentury modern homes in the Trousdale Estates neighborhood of Beverly Hills provided the inspiration and motivation for this homeowner to create his clean and contemporary glass-enclosed house. A team of talented architects and designers devised the plan for the house, blending both midcentury and contemporary elements on a lush and private property in Boca Raton.

Who lives here: A homeowner and his 2 Weimaraners
Location: Boca Raton, Florida
Size: 4 bedrooms, 3½ bathrooms
Designers: Lindsey Snyder and Tiffany Bowman of Marc-Michaels Interior Design
Architects: Mitchell Kunik and Benjamin Schreier of Affiniti Architects
Masonry block and poured concrete columns covered in smooth white stucco make up the exterior wall surrounding the estate. Vertical black seams contrast the stark white walls, creating a sculptural statement.
An opening between the exterior walls leads to a set of orange double doors. The homeowner’s two Weimaraners happily pose at the entrance.
Take the quiz: What color should your front door be?
Upon entering through the front door, one can turn in either direction to walk along glass-lined corridors that separate the exterior and interior courtyards. One corridor leads to the main living area, while the other leads to the home’s bedrooms.
The corridor shown above leads to the home’s main living area and includes two Lucite pedestals topped with decorative vases, as well as colorful oil paintings from HG Arts at the end.
The main living area includes an open kitchen, dining area and living space, and an office on the other side of the fireplace. White Italian porcelain tile was used for the floors throughout the home.
Flooring: Italian porcelain, Scarsdale Tile
A ribbon of travertine creates the surround for the linear fireplace. The fireplace wall is painted a pewter tone and serves as an accent wall and anchor for the space. The living area’s furniture is a contemporary take on midcentury decor. “We wanted the feel of midcentury design without sacrificing the scale and materials available with contemporary selections,” designer Tiffany Bowman says.
Sectional and armchair: custom, Bernhardt; wood wall art: Phillips Collection; side table: Zippe, Arteriors
A live-edge wood dining table paired with polished stainless steel dining chairs and an industrial chandelier creates an eclectic yet sleek look in the dining area. “Bringing in different materials and styles that nonetheless complement each other adds depth and character to a space,” designer Lindsey Snyder says.

“Making the kitchen blend seamlessly into the design and become a sort of accent wall, like the fireplace wall, was the goal for this space,” Snyder says. High-gloss veneered cabinets with streamlined hardware help create a kitchen with a low profile.
Countertops: Pompeii quartz; cabinets: custom, Distinguished Kitchens & Baths
The office’s Saarinen table and black Tulip chairs are stationed at the end of the hallway to draw the eye through the main living area to the back of the house.
The back side of the fireplace wall features custom shelving designed by Bowman and two walnut and upholstered chairs in front of a glass-topped desk.

The homeowner wanted to wake up to unobstructed views of the backyard and pool area, so furniture and other distractions were kept to a minimum. The custom area rug features a tone-on-tone Greek key pattern. The rug is made of indoor-outdoor fabric, which is ideal for wet feet and dirty paws.
Bedding: Restoration Hardware; bench: Bernhardt
A tranquil side yard screened by lush plants makes a lovely backdrop for the master bathroom. The shimmering pendant light hanging over the vanity is made of a combination of perforated copper and nickel with glass beads woven throughout.
Tub: Produits Neptune, Tubs & More; wall mirror: Restoration Hardware; pendant light: Currey & Co.
The vein-cut marble that surrounds the tub can serve as a side table for someone taking a bath or as a bench for someone taking a shower.

The Italian porcelain tile flooring that runs throughout the house extends to the backyard as flooring for a patio area that features an outdoor dining area and lounge.
Kannoa outdoor furniture and orange stools: Korson Furniture Design
Four large Sylvester palm trees are focal points for the backyard’s central courtyard. The outdoor ceramic stools are an orange shade similar to the home’s front doors and create a pop of color in the mostly white space.
A majority of the backyard is covered in lush Bermuda grass. “The homeowner has a big family with lots of young nieces and nephews. All the grass provides a great space for them and the dogs to run around on,” Snyder says.
