Designer Jenny Tamplin enjoyed creating stylish and comfortable looks for every room in her family’s newly constructed home in College Station, Texas. But it’s the wall-to-wall pink game room (including the ceiling) that always brings the biggest smile to her face.

Tamplin says that with only her two youngest daughters still living at home full-time, hot pink was a popular choice for the game room. Molding was added to the walls to give them a paneled look. They were then painted in Benjamin Moore’s Crushed Berries and coated in lacquer. The same color mixed with white paint (at 50 percent) was used for the ceiling.

“Because all the walls are one solid color of hot pink, I added the molding and lacquer to give it more character and dimension,” Tamplin says.

The look of a Hollywood Regency-style movie house was the inspiration for the space, Tamplin says. Accents like gold stenciled sconces and gilded picture frames help to create a fun and glamorous space.

The decor is a mix of high and low purchases; luxurious silk drapes from Robert Abbey Inc. mix well with coral-inspired table lamps from Target.

The game table is a fantastic spot for family game nights. The traditional table is surrounded by midcentury Tulip chairs that Tamplin bought at a local antiques market.

The mirror above the game table was created by local craftsman Dakota Pratt, who uses bottle caps in his work.

The bold floral print on the bergères was the first fabric selection made for the room. “I fell in love with this pattern, and it gave me the encouragement to go bright and colorful with the rest of the space,” Tamplin says.

Two glass-door étagère cases that were originally black received a coat of hot pink lacquered paint to complement the walls. An antique mirrored console table stores media equipment and adds bling.
