Houzz Call: Show Us Your Home Gym or Exercise Space
Having been a professional fitness trainer for five years, I know how important it is to implement a healthy lifestyle in as many ways as possible: have a healthy diet, make sure to get that beauty rest and, of course, get in some exercise time. But with commuting, desk jobs or living in an area where fitness centers are few and far between, finding the time and energy to get in a workout can prove difficult, if not impossible. That’s where home gyms and workout spaces come in. And we want to see yours.
Whether you have the latest high-tech equipment in a room of its own or just a yoga mat, TRX or free weights and an Insanity video in the corner of a bedroom, we want to see how you incorporate an active lifestyle into your home.
Homeowners: Post a photo showcasing where you work out in your house and tell us about how you fit exercise into your daily routine.
Professionals: Share pictures of a home gym you recently designed and let us know how you made it functional.
I’m a firm believer that what’s simple is true. Sometimes you just need the basic equipment: a cardio machine, a Swiss ball and a few weights are all the tools you need for a good circuit. Keep a mat handy for stretching and you’re good to go. Of course, a TV for motivation or distraction doesn’t hurt either.
Not everyone, myself included, has the luxury of a dedicated workout room. But sometimes a little space goes a long way. And if your workout room doubles as another frequently used room, like the office pictured here, you’re more likely to remember to carve out that exercise time.
