You can prettify your home as much as you like using the latest decorating trends, gorgeous artwork and artfully arranged furniture, but if you really want to stand out from the crowd, it’s time to make your home glow in the dark. Just about every room in your house can benefit from a fluorescent feature or two, whether it gives you a lift when you’re doing your laps or casts your kitchen in an unexpected glow.
No point stumbling around in the dark when you get up in the night for a drink of water or a trip to the bathroom. And let’s not forget what a flattering glow such a countertop would cast on whoever’s doing the dishes after dinner!

There’ll be no more running over bikes or toys left lying about in the driveway when it glows in the dark! Starpath is a spray-applied elastomeric coating for concrete, tarmac, wood and other materials that absorbs and stores energy from sunlight during the day, then releases this energy at night, making the particles glow. “This product adjusts to the natural light, so if it is pitch black outside, the luminous natural earth enhances, and if the sky is lighter, it won’t release as much luminosity,” says distributor Hamish Scott of Pro-Teq Surfacing. “It adjusts accordingly, almost like it has a mind of its own.”
In addition to its use on driveways and decks, Starpath is being tested in parks and other public areas to reduce the need for artificial lighting.
