Love to Cook? We Want to See Your Kitchen

Cooks are some of the cleverest people we know. If they have an onion, they can make dinner. Pie crusts hold no sway over them. Some things they make with butter and sugar probably should be locked up. And they can make their magic in kitchens of any age, style and size.

Do you love to cook at home? Have you set up your kitchen to have just what you need to make your favorite dishes? Please tell us about it. Your kitchen (and recipe!) could be featured in an upcoming story on Houzz.

Tell us what you love to cook. Are you a garden-to-table cook, like Linda Cordtz, who lives surrounded by fruit trees in Oregon? She keeps her tools within easy reach of her workstation. Open shelving, hanging pots and pans, and a multipurpose table help her stay focused.

Or do you lean toward sweets, like truffle maker Jane Morris of Washington, D.C.?

She tests recipes for her boutique chocolate company in her 150-square-foot kitchen. It’s efficient, easy to clean and open to the rest of the house. Through careful editing of her kitchen tools, she has “everything she needs and nothing else,” she says.

Morris spent $2,100 on some improvements, including butcher block countertops and a larger sink. A cushioned mat in front of the sink helps with the long hours Morris stands as she creates her confections.

Perhaps you’ve recently made some of your own kitchen fixes or have come up with a genius storage idea.

Beckie Farrant was tired of rummaging around in drawers for her measuring cups, so she installed this organizational system on the inside of one of her cabinet doors. (Those wood slats holding the hooks are paint stirrers.)

Post a photo of your kitchen — the whole thing or a favorite detail — in the Comments below. Let us learn a little something about kitchens from you. Tell us what you love to cook there and how you’ve set up your kitchen to help you.
