A pantry is one of those home features that you could technically do without — or could you? Today we’re asking you to make the case for a well-designed pantry. We want to see your well-organized, smart kitchen storage and hear how it works for you.
To open the discussion, we’ll start with what many would consider a dream pantry, created by Kathryn Long. With a sink, a long run of countertops and shelves for food, small appliances and tableware, the space is like a mini kitchen.
This pantry, by Crisp Architects, is a size that’s seen more often, but its open shelves and small countertop make it another grand example.
This pantry lives in a farmhouse-style home by Murphy & Co. Design. Although the space is most often behind closed doors, the attractive brackets on the walnut shelves and the wooden countertops make the room as attractive as it is hardworking.
Of course, pantries aren’t merely for traditional houses. Here’s an example of a pantry in a midcentury home remodeled by Design Platform.
And a pantry needn’t be a generous size to be efficient. This example, by Heirloom Design Build, appears to be closet size but mighty.
