For this project in Paris, designer Marion Alberge was called upon to work on just the baby’s room, since the rest of the apartment had just been renovated. “I started by applying the same bamboo flooring already present in the other rooms,” Alberge says. Not knowing if the baby would be boy or girl, the decorator turned to neutral colors. “The clients wanted something simple and classical. The apartment is full of light, and I wanted to maintain this feature in this room,” she says. “That is why I decided to go with white.”
All the walls are white, except the one around the door, which features harlequin taupe and white wallpaper from Ferm Living. To enhance it Alberge chose Muuto wooden pegs and designed a delicate canopy. “The metal structure is from La Redoute, and I crafted the linen veiling with some fabric from the Saint-Pierre market,” she says.
Just above the crib, the decorator installed a small shelf from La Redoute, allowing for the presence of a decor piece that reads “reve” (“dream”), found at Jardin d’Ulysse. The crib and gray bookcase are from Laurette.
The white chest of drawers and wardrobe facing each other are from the Nuage collection at Moulin Roty.
Alberge found the white sheepskin rug at Peau De Vache. She says it’s important in children’s rooms to have more than just a wooden floor. “It’s a lot warmer this way,” she says. The Butterfly armchair from Maison du Monde will serve as a relaxing spot for the future parents.
“I found this rattan chair while strolling in different markets,” Alberge says.
This little area is both elegant and classical, thanks to the Joséphine toy chest and the Altesse mirror, both from Maison du Monde.
For lighting that adds a little poetry, Alberge went with a rabbit lamp from Egmont Toys and a balloon lamp from Bazar de l’Electricité.
