It’s happening. Scott and I are about to embark on our dream kitchen renovation! Well, we have a budget to stretch, DIY arms to flex and a whole lot of decisions to make, but we couldn’t be more excited to get this proverbial ball rolling. Having lived with a small condo kitchen before, this is our first time even thinking about what makes our dream kitchen. The idea of a completed space designed by us (and us only!) is so thrilling, and even we can’t wait to see where our ideas take us. The possibilities are truly endless, and there are so many directions we could take, but here’s a roundup of what might actually take the cake. — Kim from Yellow Brick Home
Felix Tolix-Style Bar Stool, Metallic Polished Steel$195These Tolix-style stools are great to have on hand around a counter or an island. Their classic style and ability to stack make them a win-win!
Ecofriendly Kitchen Cart$444 $634.29While our kitchen is on the larger side, it’s awkwardly laid out. There’s a too-large open space in the middle, and I’m thinking a kitchen cart or island would come in so handy. I like that this one’s on wheels, so I can roll it away when it’s not needed.
Contemporary Colour Rectangle Pink Area Rug$417 $1,088.00Adding a bright burst of color with a rug is so unexpected in a kitchen. I chose this one not only because it’s pink (a favorite), but because it’s made from synthetic fibers, making it easier to clean up a mess or spill. Not to mention, it would be nice to have something soft underfoot by the sink.
Flow Hanging Ceiling Light, Black$377 $900.00Coming in at just over 2 feet wide, this pendant would make an impressive statement over a kitchen island. The glossy black feels modern and cool, but the dome shade is classic.
Cuisinart Chef’s Classic Stainless Steel 10-Piece Cookware Set$159My mishmash of pots and pans brought together by marriage has seen better days. Outfitting the kitchen renovation with new cookware is at the top of my dream list.
KitchenAid Bayleaf Artisan Stand Mixer$349.99Scott has been wishing for a KitchenAid mixer for as long as I’ve known him. It’s about time we make that happen, and this spruce green feels so elegant.
John Boos Round Chinese Chopping Block, Maple$299.95This would absolutely be a splurge of a chopping block, but it's a beauty! At 24 inches wide, it provides an insane amount of working space. Love that.
Kohler Parq Deck-Mount Kitchen Faucet With Spray$948.98 $1,265.30This faucet balances the line between sleek and traditional. It's modern convenience meets throwback, perfect for my 130-year-old home.
Biscuit Single-Bowl Thick Fireclay Farmhouse Kitchen Sink$879 $1,600.00Scott and I have been lusting after a large single sink — no double here! Our current (very shallow) sink has a partition that feels like more of a hassle than anything else, but we’re still very much on the fence. What would you do? One bowl or two?
Masonry Paint, Cashmere$49.95Scott and I go back and forth about whether we want a soft neutral or a punch of color for the walls. At the moment we’re leaning toward a wall color that seems to recede, leaving room for the tea towels and rug to shine.
Sea Gull Lighting LED Undercabinet Light$299 $299.73Undercabinet lighting is nonnegotiable. The current bare-bulb light is so glaring, and I’ve been itching to see a soft glow. I like how this one can be easily adjusted to the desired length.
Yukon Cup Pull$20.71Cup pulls feel so right in a kitchen! I like the color of this inoffensive brass, although I could be persuaded to stick with nickel or chrome. I have a feeling that this finishing touch may be a hard decision.
Rev-A-Shelf Wood-Base Cabinet Pullout Filler With Adjustable Shelves$129.97Let no space go unused! Scott has been obsessed with the idea of a hidden spice rack. Let's see if we can't tuck this into our cabinetry.
Bai Lucite Wall Clock With Big Numbers, White$30This no-frills, clean and simple clock is right up my alley. Clocks in a kitchen can create a slight diner vibe, which I’m totally digging in this one.
Swedish Dish Cloth, Cirkus, Black$7.95This black and white scallop graphic has my heart. I strangely look forward to finishing touches like this, even though they’re far, far in our kitchen’s future.
New Norm Dinnerware, Side Plate, Smoke$19.95As much as I love an embellished dish, nothing beats the clean lines of this dinnerware. The slightly smoky color sets it apart from the more-expected white.
Rose Gold Flatware, Set of 5$39The last time Scott and I chose any silverware, it was for our wedding place settings. Our everyday settings are hand-me-downs, and that should change. In our dream kitchen, we'd use these rose gold pieces every single day. Gorgeous!
Pokal Stoneware Bowl, Pink$1.99A little collection of these blush-colored bowls would be so sweet for scoops of ice cream!
Small Bottle Grinders With Steel Lids, Set of 2$64.95These salt and pepper grinders are so pretty, you’ll want to leave them out.
Cuisinart Programmable Coffeemaker With Hot Water System$99.95A proper coffee station will be in order on the first morning that Scott and I can call the kitchen done. We don’t need anything fancy, just a good ol’ cup of joe.
