Guest Picks: Set Up a Comfy Guest Room

My guest room is a blank slate right now. It needs a fresh coat of paint and some personality to really feel welcoming. My vision for the room is a peaceful retreat where guests can unwind and relax in their own space. I want it to feel calm, so no matter how crazy their travels, they have a place that feels homey. I’m aiming to mix natural woods with white and neural basics, and then bring in some color with throw pillows and art. My primary goal, though, is to make sure any guests in my home are comfortable! I’ve done my best to find cozy items that are also visually appealing and tie into the rest of the room well. — Cindy from The Flipping Couple
Organic Braided Matelasse Duvet Cover, Stone White - $149I love white bedding. It washes so easily and looks so clean and fresh. This duvet has a little added texture, which I love.
Satara Desire Gray Rug - $221I’m looking for a neutral rug that provides a warm spot for feet to land on first thing in the morning. The whimsical design on this one really won me over.
Junction Low Dresser - $799This dresser is the perfect spot for a table lamp and a vase of flowers to welcome guests. I really love its natural wood and clean lines.
Crosby Armchair, Oatmeal Pebble Weave - $849I want my guests to have a quiet space of their own where they can unwind, so a reading chair is a must. Whether they use it to read before bed or sip coffee in the morning, I hope it makes them feel at home.
Chilton Walnut Bench With Natural Steel Base - $1,699Kneeling on the floor to rummage through a suitcase is never fun, so I’ll add a bench to place luggage on. I like the combination of raw wood and metal with this one.
Oversize Sea Grass Basket - $129I don't think you can ever have too many baskets. This one can corral throw pillows, blankets or a handful of magazines.
Mahogany Leaf Mirror, Oversize - $249.99It’s always nice to check your entire outfit before leaving your room. This floor-length mirror will give my guests the opportunity to do just that, and it will also bounce light around the room.
Metallic Honeycomb Table Lamp - $159Lamplight is so much more peaceful than bright light from an overhead fixture. I love the metallic detailing on this table lamp and hope it encourages guests to spend a little time reading before bed.
Gallery Frame, Black - $12A handful of frames filled with peaceful nature scenes will go right above the dresser. Simple ones with white mats will keep the focus on the prints and will hopefully add to the calmness of the room.
Alpaca Dove Throw - $159There's nothing worse than being cold at night. I always keep an extra blanket in the guest room to make sure everyone is comfortable. I love the soft color of this one.
Threshold Chiffon Window Sheer - $19.99Light, breezy curtains make any room feel more homey and welcoming. This sheer pair won't block light but will still add to the coziness of the room.
Parrado Teal 23-Inch Pillow - $69.95A couple of patterned pillows on the chair will break up the neutrals. This leaf design in a soft blue works well with the spa-like feel of the room.
Faux Leather Seats Come Standard, White - $79After a day of traveling, sometimes you need to put up your feet! Faux leather is easy to wipe down, and the white will blend seamlessly with the room.
Wax Melted-Edge Flameless LED Battery-Operated Pillar Candles, Set of 4 - $39.99Flickering candles instantly relax me, but I don’t want guests to have to monitor candle flames. These LED ones provide all the comfort without any risk of flames’ getting out of control.
Kassatex Mayfair Stripe Bath Towel Collection - $12I always place a stack of clean towels on the guest bed so that no one has to search for them or guess which ones to use. I think the colored stripes on these would be perfect for helping guests identify their towels for the whole stay.
Crosley Analog Clock With Finial, Antique Bronze - $19.99I know most of us use our phones as alarms, but it’s nice to be able to check the time without pulling out a phone. This vintage clock would be perfect on the dresser.
Threshold Textured Wooden Vase, Whitewash Finish - $15I love to pop a couple of flowers into a vase to welcome guests. The texture on this one adds a little rustic touch to the room.
Shiny Copper Vintage-Style Metal Table Fan - $64.99I want to do everything I can to make sure my guests are comfortable! This fan could provide white noise or just enough of a breeze to help them fall asleep. Plus, I absolutely love the copper exterior.
Rustic Wood Shelf - $79This ledge will go next to the bed to catch cell phones and whatever bedside necessities guests have. I’ll also add a couple of books in case they’re looking for some reading material in the evening.
Taylor Wire Console Table Basket - $69I think we’ve all forgotten to bring something at least once while traveling. I like to keep a few basic necessities (like soap and shampoo) in a basket in the guest room, just in case. I like how simple this basket is, but the handles add a little personality and work so well with the other natural woods in the room.
