The Houzz team had a great time with the more than 20,000 attendees at the AIA Convention 2014 June 26–28 in Chicago. During the opening-day keynote, in front of a packed auditorium, American Institute of Architects CEO Robert Ivy announced Houzz’s new strategic partnership with the AIA to develop innovative technology initiatives to engage architects, deepen members’ use of the Houzz platform and increase public awareness and appreciation of how good design can enhance our lives.
Houzz’s booth at the convention included a presentation area, where we shared consumer insights and best practices; a consultation area, where experts provided free advice on building Houzz profiles; and a charging station, where people could rest their feet, charge their phones sip coffee and chat with the Houzz team.
Our “How to Houzz” presentations helped architects learn how to build their brands and grow their businesses on Houzz.
Attendees took advantage of one-on-one help to make the most of their Houzz profiles, learn about our Pro+ program and, if they were new to Houzz, learn how to get started.
A discussion with Mark English, Jane Frederick and David Webber was streamed live; they spoke about the new empowered architect, including about how Houzz is enabling them to interact more widely with the public. “Houzz has turned into our main source of referrals,” said Mark English. Jane Frederick agreed. “Out of the 15 new houses and major renovations we got last year,” she said, “14 found us on Houzz.”
We kept everyone going with free coffee in the morning and local beer in the afternoon.
After three great days, it was time to wrap up. Thanks to the AIA and Chicago for a wonderful event. And in case you haven’t yet heard about our new affiliation badge program, national and local badges to show your affiliation with the AIA and other organizations are now available to add to your professional profile — add one today!
