I have always believed that the perfect kids’ room sparks the imagination. Bright, playful colors and patterns, an abundance of whimsy and fun, and thoughtfully chosen toys and decor can help whisk your little one away into a daydream world of lions and tigers, sailboats and hot-air balloons, magical cities and cowboys and fairies. Here are a few of my favorite finds to create such a space. — Lauren from A Lovely Lark
Lion Poster by Ingela P Arrhenius - GBP 19 I always love to use artwork as a jumping-off point for the color palette of a space. This little lion will set the tone here.
Stockholm Table Clock - $45 Adding neutral items that aren’t specifically for kids, like this alarm clock, helps to balance out all of the brighter and more playful items in a kids’ space.
Honeycomb Tray - $68 A tray is a wonderful addition to any kids’ room. Use it to corral small toys, to write on, to hold supplies at a diaper-changing station or to unify a grouping of smaller items on top of a dresser.
The Henrik Bed - $800 Items that are created thoughtfully by parents themselves are the best. Meta Coleman of One More Mushroom designed this gorgeous bed for her son, Henrik. It’s now available for sale in the U.S.
Cloud-Shaped Pillow, Wide Stripes by Colette Bream - $68 Small accessories like throw pillows are a great way to add pattern, color and whimsy.
Boat Pillow, Red and Blue, Medium by Colette Bream - $60 I always try to incorporate a sense of adventure, like with this handmade boat-shaped pillow.
Standard Paper Balloon Set - $9 Mobiles aren’t just for nurseries. They can add color, interest and fun to any oft-forgotten ceiling. Plus, they can inspire a little mind as the child gazes upward from bed.
San Francisco Pop-Out and Play - $11 When possible, choose toys that also enhance the decor. This pop-out collage does just that.
Giraffe Nightlight - $99 Nightlights are available in so many fun shapes that it’s almost a sin not to have fun on this front.
Row, Row, Row Your Garland - $19.95 Every single piece of decor doesn’t necessarily have to be full of color and pattern to spark the imagination. A quieter piece like this neutral sailboat garland has its place as well.
Wooden Camera Sometimes when toys do less, they allow the mind to do more. Just imagine what your child can dream up with this wooden camera.
Gold Bars Rug - $299 Colorful patterned rugs don’t work everywhere, but they sure do fit in nicely in most children’s spaces.
Christian Fischbacher August & Augustine Bed Linen What better way to inspire your little one’s dreams than with fun bedding?
Socks the Fox - $44 A cuddly friend is a must in any little one’s bedroom! Try these charismatic knit foxes.
Cloud Wallpaper - $103.50 This cloud wallpaper would be great in a small place, like the inside of a closet or on an accent wall. Buy on Houzz
Vintage-Inspired Marquee Light Balloon by Saddle Shoe Signs - $150 This balloon marquee light is one of my favorites accent lights for kids. The best part: You don’t have to hide the cord!
Child’s Vintage Fisher-Price Toy, Western Town by Long Since - $19.99 Vintage items like this Fisher-Price Western Town toy add a feeling of nostalgia that every little one’s space needs.
Soccer Ball, Boy - $44 This soft soccer ball will keep kids active while causing minimal destruction inside the house.
