Guest Picks: Practical Ways to Use a Blank Kitchen Wall

My family and I have lived in our townhouse for nearly 10 years now. The kitchen is at the back of the main floor, and it runs the width of the whole house. And the wall on the far right side is blank. Starkly blank.
I’ve been trying to fill that blank space for a while now. Maybe shelves? A chalkboard? A mirror might look nice. I’d love a pot rack! Decisions, decisions. — Liza from (a)Musing Foodie
French Café Entryway Rack - $249 Sure, this rack could be used for other things, but I’m seeing pots on the lower rack and ladles and other gadgets (tongs?) hanging from the top hooks.
Kellan Wall-Mount Storage Organizer - $129 My blank kitchen wall gets about 10 hours of direct sunlight, so I could see this being a great shelf for growing herbs.
Chalkboard Wall Planter - $139.95 Ooh, a planter that’s also a chalkboard? I love it!
Enclume Deep Shelf Pot Rack, Hammered Steel - $216 I would love a pot rack on my blank wall. All of my pots and pans take up two full kitchen cabinets.
Kellan Wall-Mount Shelf - $129 This shelf is simple, sturdy and deep enough to hold large bowls.
Kellan Wall-Mount Bin Shelf - $99 I could see this being really useful for kitchen towels and oven mitts — even better if they’re in really pretty colors and patterns.
Holman Entertaining Shelves - $89 More shelves (and room for wineglasses) means my glassware and pitchers wouldn’t take up a whole cupboard.
Holtom Wall Shelf, Rubbed Black - $179.95 These baskets could hold odds and ends, and the pegs would be perfect for hanging reusable shopping bags. I love the dark wood too.
Vintage Chic Chalkboard - $79.95 I have visions of a large chalkboard on which I put up the week’s meals every Sunday. Pipe dream? Perhaps. But I think this one would still be useful even if the menu never happens.
Salvaged Wood Narrow Sideboard and Hutch - $3,495 This hutch has a great built-in look.
Double-Shelf Wall-Hanging Pot Rack, Black - $59.99 This pot rack can also act as shelving — terrific!
3-Tier Alder Wood Spice Rack - $24.99 If your spices take up a whole cabinet, as mine do, consider a spice rack like this instead.
Rogar Wall-Mount 36-Inch Bar-Style Pot Rack - $25.99 This rack is simple and understated; sometimes that’s all you need.
Chalkboard With Wire Basket - $79.99 This chalkboard also has a basket to hold all those papers families tend to collect.
Cabin Chalkboard 2-Shelf Cabinet - $79.99 I’m not sure exactly what’s practical about a cupboard with a chalkboard background, but I love it anyway!
3-Slot Hook Wall Cubby - $129.99 The top drawers on this can hold miscellaneous items, and the hooks would be perfect for reusable shopping bags. Plus, the white antiqued finish is great.
Leeds Wall-Mount Wine Rack - $119.99 This beautiful wine rack would give me the perfect excuse to visit some local Maryland wineries and stock up.
Prepac Furniture 48-Inch Wood Wall-Mounted Shelving - $109 This would be nice for cookbooks, envelopes and other accessories in the kitchen.
Allen + Roth Wood Wall-Mounted Shelving - $29.98 Simple floating shelves could easily hold things like a cheese grater, assorted timers, spices and other items.
Privilege Wooden 2-Hooks Wall Mirror - $99.99 A mirror can help a kitchen feel airier, and the hooks are practical for hanging aprons or reusable grocery bags on.
