Cue the Rocky music. The Best of Houzz 2014 winners have been crowned. Want to know who came out on top? Just look for the Best of Houzz badges on professionals’ profiles to see some of the world’s top home builders, architects, interior designers, contractors and other residential remodeling professionals.
Awards were given in two categories: Design and Customer Satisfaction. If you see a green Design badge on a professional’s profile page, that means one (or more) of the portfolio images was among those that were added to the most ideabooks in 2013. (Houzz’s 16 million monthly users saved more than 230 million photos to their personal ideabooks through the website, iPad/iPhone app and Android app.)
For example, Harry Braswell got a Design badge for this photo, which was the photo that was added to the most ideabooks in 2013. His kitchen design follows the trend revealed in our kitchen remodeling survey, which found that 75 percent of homeowners want soft, neutral colors in the kitchen. Sixty-five percent will choose stainless steel appliances, and half will select a tile backsplash.
Similarly, this bathroom by International Custom Designs was among the most added photos in 2013 and runs in line with trends found in our bathroom remodeling survey. For those adding bathtubs, freestanding models like this topped the list, with 33 percent of respondents preferring them over drop-ins, undermounts and other styles. And about 79 percent of people will choose an all-glass enclosure for their main shower, and 54 percent will choose frameless glass.
Pros also received badges for Customer Satisfaction, determined by a variety of factors, including the number and quality of client reviews received in 2013. Just look for a gray Satisfaction badge on the left-hand side of a professional’s page. Here you can see that Fiorello Design earned both Design and Satisfaction badges in 2014.
These honors aren’t just for pros in the United States. Professionals in six other countries, including Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia, earned badges too. (The photo shown here was one of the most popular Australian photos of 2013.)
You can view the most popular photos hailing from New Zealand and France as well. Check out this cottage in Normandy. Houzzers chose this charming exterior as a favorite French project of 2013.
Houzzers also loved designs from Germany. This sleek kitchen space took the top spot for the country, earning Leicht a coveted Design badge.
These badges help homeowners identify the most popular and top-rated home professionals in their metro area. So go ahead: Search Houzz to find the top pros near you.
