My husband and I are in the middle of giving our office a facelift. It’s time to say goodbye to our mismatched, ill-fitting furniture and clutter and make way for a fresh, new space. The walls will have tall white board and batten, so we want to introduce warmth into the room with lots of textiles and natural wood furniture. And I can only get work done in an organized space, so there will be lots of tools to make organizing (and staying organized!) easy. While the office is the space where I often work at my day job, it’s also a space where my husband and I work on our dreams. We want it to be a warm, inviting, inspirational space filled with things we love. — Cindy from The Flipping Couple
Ava Wood and Glass Desk, Espresso Stain - $399 I want a natural wood desk in this room to balance out the bright white board and batten walls, but I also want something that doesn’t overpower the room. This gorgeous piece has chunky legs, and the glass top keeps it feeling open and airy. It is exactly what I’m looking for.
Swivel Desk Chair, Espresso - $399 I’ve been eyeing these chairs for a long, long time. I prefer a desk chair to have wheels, but I also want one that will fit the character of the room. This one fills the bill perfectly.
Printer’s Single 2-Drawer File Cabinet, Tuscan Chestnut Stain - $399 That new desk doesn’t have room to store all of my files and documents. This cabinet± accomplishes my goal of keeping the office organized and beautiful. It’s a winner all around.
Tuscan Palace Ikat Trellis Rug, Grayish Tan - $130 I definitely want to add a cushy rug to the office to make it warmer and more inviting. I like the design of this one because it’s slightly unexpected but still geometric and symmetrical. I thought about buying a brighter, more colorful piece, but I want to stick with a neutral and instead use accessories to bring in some color.
Cotton Canvas Bold Stripe Curtain, Plaster - $39 I've been dreaming of gray striped curtains for a long, long time. I can't wait to hang these up. I think they'll add so much to the room.
Allen + Roth Wood Standard Touch On/Off Shaded Floor Lamp - $79 I don’t have overhead lighting in the office, so I want to bring in several lamps. I love the chunky base of this one and think the natural wood will really pop against the white walls. Plus, it will add to the study feel that I’m looking for.
Crown Molding Shelf, Espresso Stain - $79 One wall of the office will have three long shelves for storing supplies and displaying photos and trinkets. I love the architectural detail of these, and the warm wood will add a lot to the space.
Gray Wire Bin - $16.95 The shelves will be filled with a mix of storage solutions. I want to use different textures to add interest, and these wire baskets are great. Plus, their size is perfect for corralling stuff and making sure everything has a home.
Threshold Global Large Milk Crate, Dark Brown - $20.29 An office can never have too many storage containers. I’ll use these baskets on the shelves or even on the floor, to corral all the odds and ends that make their way into the office.
Capiz Sphere - $24 While most things in the office will be functional, I also want to find some things that are just plain beautiful. The space needs to be inspiring and comfortable, and these spheres would add so much beauty.
Black Vintage-Style Magnet Clock - $14.99 An office needs a clock, as it’s so easy to lose track of time when you’re working. This one has so much character in such a small package! I’ll put it on one of the shelves where it’s easy to spot.
Chevron Crewel Pillow Cover, Bergamot - $44 My husband and I are building a bench over the large radiator in the office, and I want lots of pillows for it. Pillows are a great way to introduce color, and they’re easy to swap in and out with the seasons or decorating whims. Right now I just want to add lots of color.
Sloan Upholstered Chair, Painted Stripe, Gravel - $799 Every office should have a comfy place for curling up with a good book and a warm blanket. I really love this chair because the stripes are subtle enough to not overpower the small space, but they still add some interest. Plus, its neutral color palette is versatile; it would still work if I move it to a different room down the road.
Cable-Knit Throw, Flagstone - $79 The dark gray version of this throw would be perfect for rainy afternoons curled up in that chair. A blanket can add so much warmth to a room, even when it’s not being used. I especially love cable knits, because what could possibly be cozier?
Gallery in a Box, Modern White Frames, Set of 6 - $149 My husband and I are going to put up our first-ever gallery wall right above the desk. I can’t wait to fill the frames with photos and art that are really meaningful to us.
Kellan Cubby With Double Hook - $49 I keep most of my files locked away in a file cabinet, but there are a handful that I want to have accessible all the time. I’d love to toss them in one of these cubbies so they’re visible and easy to grab. The easier my organizational systems, the more I use them.
Ryan Trash Can - $24.99 I know, picking out a trash can seems a little excessive. But with that beautiful new desk, there’s no place to hide the ugly plastic one I’m using now. I think this one would be great for my fresh, new space.
Metal Camden Task Lamp - $49.99 With no overhead lighting, the office is going to need something on the desk. But I don’t want to give up too much desktop real estate. This darling lamp with a small footprint fits both the function and the beauty requirements.
Ceramic Embossed Small White Flower Pots, Set of 3 - $18.99 I like to use planters to store pens on the desk. They’re unique and extremely functional! These come in a set of three; I’d probably use one for pens, one for Sharpies and one for a little fake plant on the shelf. (I can’t keep real ones alive.)
Joshua Stripe Dog Bed Cover - $79 This one might not work for everyone, but a space needs to work for who uses it. My dogs like to nap in the office, and I want them to be comfy when they do.
