A record-breaking storm dubbed the Polar Vortex is bringing some of the coldest weather in two decades to parts of the United States, leaving folks from New York to Texas chilled to the bone. If you are caught in the storm, we want to know how you’re keeping warm.
Those in the Great Lakes region are facing dangerous temperatures as low as 60 degrees below zero when you factor in the wind chill, and officials are warning people to stay inside. The Twitter hashtag adopted by the National Weather Service for Chicago says it all: #Chiberia.
Although the upper Midwest is catching the coldest temperatures, places like Texas are also experiencing teeth-rattling temps reaching below zero, according to CNN.
Although the brutal lows and snowfall are expected to continue for the next couple of days (as of January 6) meteorologists at the National Weather Service say most of the country will be back to normal by midweek.
As you pause in your attempt to shovel out, let us know how you are coping. Is your house staying warm? For those who have adopted passive solar techniques, are they working? And, of course, we would love to see your photos.
Show us: Please post a photo of your snowy house, yard or neighborhood, and tell us how you’re staying warm this week!
