Guest Picks: Stylish Extra Seating and Side Tables

I don’t know about you, but I never feel like I have enough sides when entertaining. No, I am not talking about food sides — though I must admit that I often like side dishes better than the entrée. I am talking about side tables, side chairs and the like. As I get ready to host my first holiday, I have been fretting for weeks over the amount of seating and tables I have. Below I have gathered a few products that will help with the entertaining and some room images that show dual-purpose pieces. Happy entertaining, all! — Julieann from CreateGirl

This is a perfect example of nestling a folding table and chairs into an existing room. You may have to do a bit of shifting in your current setup, but I bet you can make it work.

contemporary chairs by Crate&Barrel
Set of Spare Black Folding Chairs Get the look with Crate & Barrel’s spare folding chairs in lacquered black.

modern outdoor tables by IKEA
Bollö Folding Table - $49.99 This narrow table is the perfect size to fit into a nook, and the fact that it will not take up much room when stored is a bonus.

contemporary chairs by Target
Folding Chair, Perforated Teal - $12.99 This aqua-colored folding chair from Target will add a casual feel to the table and provide a nice splash of color.

traditional chairs by Ballard Designs
St. Germain Folding Chair - $99 These St. Germain folding chairs are exclusive to Ballard Designs and are as good-looking as any other dining room chair. The cane seat and bamboo back give them a designer-ish look that I love.

Louis Folding Chair - $99 Add a cushion to this Louis side chair to give your guests that extra bit of comfort. They will immediately forget they are sitting on a folding chair.

contemporary chairs by Society Social
The Fifi Folding Chair - $225 If you are looking for the ultimate in chic folding chairs, turn to Society Social. These chairs are available in several high-gloss and metallic colors, so you might consider combining a couple of colors to create a lively dining room.

Giardino Café Table - $239 I am always on the lookout for furniture that does double duty. The Giardino café table can be used outdoors and would still fit perfectly indoors with or without a tablecloth. I don’t know about you, but whenever I am hosting a family dinner, there is never enough room for food on the main table. Small tables off to the side are always welcomed!

Royal Tahiti Yellow Balau Rectangular Outdoor Folding Dining Table - $241.99 Need an extra table for all of your family members? Look to your outdoor furniture. If you have a nice table like this one from International Caravan, it could easily work inside as well. The key is to have it look like it blends with the other woods tones in the room. If it doesn’t, just add a tablecloth to give it that holiday feel. And the best part? It will fold away after all of your guests leave.

This bench is a great example of using an item you may already have in your home to seat more guests around the table.

traditional benches by Overstock
Safavieh Florence Beige Tufted Nailhead Bench - $210.99 This 47-inch Safavieh bench would make perfect seating for at least two people at a dining table. It would add interest to your table and solve your seating issues. Always try looking around your house for items that you can use in different ways, like benches.

Colette Bench - $599 Do you have a bench at the end of your bed? Why not bring it downstairs and use it in the living room as extra seating, or even better, use it at that extra dining table. If you don’t already have one, this Colette bench with its simple nailhead trim is a great choice.

Doheny Silver Console - $768 I will often clear off the console table and use it as an additional buffet. If you don’t have one, try this 40-inch Doheny console; it’s the perfect length for serving. I’d put a small table lamp in the corner and add platters and cake plates of varying heights.

Connor Console Table - $699 This image of the Connor console is the perfect visual for how to transform it into a serving piece. Move it away from the back of the sofa or out of the entryway, and believe me, your guests will congregate. It will also get them out of the kitchen while you finish prepping, which is a bonus.

contemporary media storage by Crate&Barrel
Blake Gray Wash 42-Inch Media Console - $999 I have used this Blake stand from Crate & Barrel over and over again in small homes. It works perfectly as a media stand but also as a serving piece and a place for storing china. You can move the TV and cable box into another room, then use the top as a server and the shelf as a place for napkins, plates and utensils.

traditional ottomans and cubes by Serena & Lily
Turquoise Moroccan Leather Pouf - $450 There never seems to be enough seating in the living room, so this pouf will come in handy. It’s perfect for watching football or gathering around the coffee table for a fun family game night.

contemporary chairs by Pottery Barn
Faux Fur Beanbag Cover, Long Shaggy - $249 Honestly, I have been dying for this faux-fur beanbag since Pottery Barn introduced it earlier this fall. I am thinking the kids will love it as they watch football after Christmas dinner. And, well, I will love it in front of the fire after all of the dishes are washed. It’s a win-win for all!

contemporary side tables and accent tables by Galeries Acadiana
Capiz Shell Nesting Tables In my opinion, you can never have too many side tables. These capiz shell nesting tables would look chic and serve as extra drink-drop tables. I often keep nesting tables stored in the guest room as the bedside table, and then pull them out when needed.

modern side tables and accent tables by Worlds Away
Lee Gold Leaf Nesting Tables These Worlds Away Lee nesting tables would be the perfect accent to a living room, guest room or any place you need an extra tabletop.
