Guest Picks: Create a Lodge-Chic Kids' Bedroom

When my son was a baby, I decorated his room with a woodland animal theme. As much as I wanted him to stay a baby forever, he insisted on growing! When the time came to change his nursery into a big-boy bedroom, I didn't want to get rid of everything and start all over again. A lodge-themed bedroom worked out perfectly. Some of the more babyish items were passed on to others, and the room transitioned to a fun big-boy lodge that brings to mind the good times my family always has on camping trips. — Lisa from Fern Creek Cottage
Washed Classic Plaid Bedding Collection, Red - $179 This bedding reminds me of a cozy flannel shirt on a cold winter's day. I just want to snuggle down into it.
Wood Grain Pendant Lamp - $69 The wood grain on this shade is perfect for a lodge-themed room, and the modern style keeps things fresh.
Woodland Animal Pillows - $39 These forest animal pillows are all so cute that I'd have trouble choosing just one.
Vintage Lantern Table Lamp - $119.99 Every bedside table needs a lamp, and I love that this one has the look of a vintage lantern. The bright red is great for a kids' room.
Black Bear in Forest, Bend, Oregon, Poster - $29.99 I love to use vintage travel posters as artwork in my home. They usually have vibrant colors and great images, and are very affordable.
Cottage Stripe Cotton Rug, Red Framboise - $28 I think this striped rug would coordinate so nicely with plaid bedding.
River Run Rocker - $799 One of my favorite times of the day is when I read to my son before putting him to bed. I could see us having a lot of cuddle time in this rocking chair.
Rough Rider Throw, Red - $79 While reading to my son, it would be lovely to snuggle under this cozy blanket. In fact, I think I would have to borrow it from him and use it myself while watching TV in the evening.
Black Forest Log Cabin Clock - $54.99 I love the idea of putting an heirloom piece in a child's room. I'd hang this up high so my son couldn't break it, and one day hopefully he would pass it down to one of his kids.
Stuffed Ram Head - $99 A real animal head would be a bit creepy in a child's room, but this stuffed ram's head is adorable and perfect for the lodge theme.
Sukie Perpetual Calendar - $9.95 Although a calendar isn't necessary for a young child, this is too cute to pass up. Little kids can always use it to practice their numbers.
New Hampshire White-Tailed Deer Poster - $24.99 My family always gets excited when we spot a deer while out hiking. I'd hang this poster in a rustic frame.
Vintage Wood Farmhouse Crates - $49 I love the vintage vibe these storage crates have. They would make it easy for kids to clean their own rooms too — always a plus.
Northern Territory Moose Metal Wall Hook, Rust - $18 Even though my son is only in preschool, he already has a backpack, which usually gets dumped on the floor. This darling moose hook would be perfect for encouraging him to hang up his coat and backpack when he gets home.
Barnwood Picture Frame With Rusted Metal - $34.99 I would use this weathered wood frame in multiples to hang up my son's artwork in his room. I know it would mean a lot to him to see it displayed.
Luxe Faux Fur Decorative Pillow Cover and Insert - $45 A faux fur pillow would be so cozy to snuggle with, and this one would be a great accent piece with the plaid and stripes in the room.
Aspen Bear Footstool - $259.99 Have you ever spent a long night up with your little one? It's great to have a place to rest your feet in a child's room, and this bear is so cute that your child would adore it too.
Rustic Wood Planks Wallpaper - $44.95 A weathered wood accent wall behind the bed would look so awesome — and if you use wallpaper, there's no chance for splinters. Plus, if you want to change the look someday, wallpaper is easier to take down than real wood.
One-Drawer Nightstand, Barnwood, Hickory Legs - $479 This nightstand has the perfect rustic vibe for a lodge-theme room. I like the drawer in front for little ones to store treasures in.
Big Sky Antler Single Toggle Switch Cover, Birch - $14.99 Sometimes the little touches can make a big impact. Antlers are all the rage right now, and a faux antler switch plate is unique and fun.
