The owners of this house in Sydney's Turramurra suburb wanted to warm up the interior's sharp lines, so they turned to designers Adam Scougall and Ben Napier for help adding more personality to a number of rooms, including this combined living and dining space.
The team started with a fresh color palette of layered blues and creams and accented it with furniture featuring some graphic lines.
Another graphic touch — a contrasting stripe on the living room walls in lieu of wallpaper — frames select pieces of artwork.

The theme continues in bold graphics on a custom rug and matching ottoman. The designers refinished the buffet's original honey-colored doors in a dark chocolate.

This informal dining area had been a circulation area that just connected the living room with a game room. Scougall and Napier used a round glass-topped table to transform the room into a casual dining area where the homeowners can dine and see outside. The custom drum shade with a black and white chevron inside offers an elegant detail.

The same chevron pattern from the informal dining room's light fixture continues in the formal dining room. The designers had this table base made of hundred-year-old reclaimed wood from an Australian mill.
