White is not boring, it just needs a touch of originality and an organic flair to dazzle and dare. A honed Carerra marble mosaic tile floor with inlays of silver Nero marble dots recalls Plaza Hotel elegance and underpins all aspects of this totally classic, yet totally modern bathroom. A wainscoting fit for royalty starts with a base of glossy ceramic baseboard tiles, immediately capped with a checkerboard listello of 1/2" x 1/2" Carerra and repeated Nero marble dots. Next comes a 30" tall run of glossy 6x6 tiles, then another complementary checked listello, with a finishing glossy white ceramic chair rail. In the tub surround, 3x6 glossy ceramic subway tiles rise above the chair rail to a glossy ceramic crown. Elegance is stacked upon elegance at the vanity, as well. A soft blue/grey breakfront vanity does not crowd the narrow space, yet yields copious storage for towels and toiletries, all resting in easily accessed roll-out bins. Silver linings abound throughout this bathroom, as gorgeous frames, accessories, and fixtures resonate in the marble's tones, but with touches of gloss and sheen and dazzle. The final "S" is for serene. Once sequestered in this bath, you won't want to leave. Almost forgot...this bathroom is in a very petit townhouse across the street from the neighborhood elementary school. Gardiner's design/build plans provide affordable luxury in large or small venues.
