1. Fresh and Clean Cleveland Bathroom
This room has a beautiful shape and glorious view, but the owners were ready for more serene colors and fixtures.
AFTER: A new color palette, simple materials, clean lines (and a much-improved television setup) gave the homeowners the spa feel they were going for.

2. From Ancient Attic to Bright Bathroom
Slanted ceilings are tricky. Designer Brian Patterson embraced the challenge head on, giving the owners an extra bathroom before their new baby arrived.
AFTER: The low ceilings ended up feeling cozy when Patterson tucked a tub and other amenities into corners. A light palette and plenty of windows eliminated the attic feel.

3. Simple Style for a San Francisco Bathroom
Retro can be beautiful, but not always. This bathroom fell into the latter category — the clanking plumbing, poor tiling and old electrical system were ready for an update.
AFTER: The owners worked with Bill Fry Construction to keep the bathroom's basic layout, but switched out the rarely used tub for a spacious shower. Bright white subway tile, a white ceiling and a clear shower door make the space feel bigger than its 40 square feet. (Click the link below to see what the kids did before construction started.)

4. Quirky Subway-Style Powder Room
A love of New York City inspired this California family to take a new approach to their tiny powder room.
AFTER: Designer Lisa Konjicek-Segundo got rid of the awkward niche and shell sink, making a massive photo of New York's Spring Street subway station the focal point. The clients "thought the fact that the toilet looks like it's sitting on the subway platform was hilarious," she says.

5. Classic Materials for a Florida Bathroom
The brown and orange tiles in this guest bathroom certainly weren't ideal, but the rotted wood and damaged plumbing posed an even greater problem. The homeowner gutted the space and started over.
AFTER: With the 1970s color palette removed, the homeowner could give the bathroom a classic look that fit his 1920s cottage.

6. Stylish New Look for a Small Boston Space
Poor lighting, outdated finishes and minimal storage didn't make this Boston bath very welcoming for its owner.
AFTER: Sticking to a strict budget, designer Stephanie Sabbe transformed the room with an Etsy wall stencil and bright Benjamin Moore paint. A new custom vanity with a marble top, and classic floor and shower tile balance out the on-trend elements.

7. Spa Style in Beverly, Massachusetts
Poor insulation meant that this couple's 1990s bathroom was freezing most of the year. The outdated space also didn't have the relaxing, spa look they wanted.
AFTER: Radiant heat, new insulation, modern metallic tiles and a new layout created space, style and warmth.

8. Vintage-Inspired Row House Remodel
The purple floors, red walls and painted-over subway tile were not owner Megan Adams' style, but the plumbing problems and rotted joist presented a more immediate problem.
AFTER: Adams and her husband started over from scratch, gutting the bathroom, updating the plumbing and giving the room a classic look with white subway and hex tile and gray grout.
